Day 10~ A Minor Success!

Yay! After completing the diet for only 2 days, it would appear that my stomach has started to flatten down and I'm feeling much better for it. It looks like I've lost 2lbs in weight, even if it's only water loss, and that's a start, so I can't wait for this to continue as College starts again next week and I want to look somewhat decent :D But for now, I'm in a happy place!

Day 8 ~ Confession Time

Yes it's true, as ashamed as I am to admit it, the diet has hit a somewhat large road bump.. It was all going swimmingly well until I went camping last this weekend. Yes, this is where it all went downhill. Technically, it should have been a good time to get some actual excercise done, and to eat less than the comfort food usual. However, this was not what actually occurred. Instead, I spent 3 days cooking over an open fire, noshing on whatever I could get my hands on, which included toast, apple pies, chocolate cake, sausages, bacon and basically any other poratble high fat food. Not to mention the seemingly inexaustable supply of chocolate biscuits.

This then paved the way for the past 2 days to allow me to be tempted by Gregg's the bakers and several other treats including ice cream and yesterday's house party to celebrate the Queen's diamond Jubilee proved to be the most deadly as there was an entire buffet of burgers, hotdogs, cakes and nachos. Lots and lots of nachos..... Oh how the world continues to curse me. As a result, the weight has moved up several pounds which is making me feel rather selfconcious.

What makes it even worse, is that I eat much less than my best friend, but she continues to saty several stone under my weight. And the unhappy chances are that we all have a friend that can eat non stop forever, and still manage to loose weight. In the words of Blackadder himself; "The devil farts in my face once more." Yes, thats about right. Time to really crack down now that I'm surrounded by food. The Joy.

Day 1 ~ Measurements and Weigh-ins

Right, to get to grips with what I'm starting with, I've taken a few measurements from around my body so that I should be able to compare them later on, with the newer, and hopefully slimmer me. So this is the embarrassing part;

Weight; 11st 7lbs / 163lbs
Thigh (Widest Point); 61cm / 24"
Calf (Widest Point); 41cm / 16"
Waist (Natural Waistline); 90cm / 35.5"
Stomach (Widest Point); 98cm / 38.5"
Hips (Widest Point); 99cm / 39"
Arm (Widest Point); 30cm / 12"
Bust (Widest Point); 100cm / 39.5"

Okay, well one of the first things that I've realised, is that my stomach is practically as wide as my bust, which is something I'm not very proud of. So that's defiantly something that I want to improve on BIG TIME.
The Last time I lost the stone in weight, was when I took up the Special K challenge, and that is what I'm going to try now. This 'diet' is simple. Eat 2 bowls of 30g of Special K a day as two of your meals and have one normal sized healthy one. That's exactly what I did today, as I enjoyed The Peach and Apricot Variety. I did little in the way of snacking, although I will admit that I did enjoy a mini cup pie and a slice of the treat this evening. But other than that I kept strict to the diet and completed a Thigh workout with some CV work.

As I baked the pie today, many people are surprised to learn that Cooking in itself can be an excellent form of exercise for people that aren't able to get out of the house too often, and a half hour of active cooking can  burn over 90 calories, providing you don't write that off by eating too much of what you're making ;) I seem to find that Cooking for other people, even without eating the food, can be quite satisfying and to some extent, rather filling.

So this is my challenge, lose 2lbs a week and keep it up, as my birthday is coming soon, and I want to fit into the dress that I bought specially for the occasion. The First Day, I think has been mostly success but it's out for some early morning exercise tomorrow. Also, every nice I do neck, thigh and ab exercises in bed, which might just be part of my OCD, but I think they are starting to help!

The Journey Begins

Hi everyone, I'm Esther. I'm 16 and currently studying at College. As the Title probably suggests, I'm a bit self concious about my own body, and wanted to be able to share my experience with you people. I've never really publicised my body, as I get very uncomfortable with any focus on it at all. I've battled with my weight since I was young and at one point found the courage to lose a stone in weight. Now that might not sound much, but I wanted to be thinner, and right then, when I'd found out how much I'd lost, was one of the best feelings ever! Since then, the weight has slowly crept back on, and it kills me each time I have to wear a baggy top to hide my stomach. Doubtless many of you people may feel the same.

I want to do it again and as I write this,  I feel rather uncomfortable in my own skin. But it's time to make a change. I currently weight 165lbs and that makes me want to cry. So for an emotional teenager who's just finished her exams for this year today (Yay!!) I want this to be different and hopefully I can drop 2 dress sizes and will post several times a week to update you on progress.

My weight to me is a very sensitive part of my life and growing up with people calling me fat and ugly didn't exactly help. I've never really been popular, but have found some incredible friends on the way, and I know they'd always support me. I'm not overly active and probably do about an hour and a half light exercise a week. Who knows, I might even inspire one of you lovely people to join me. I'll update measurements, and try to stop obsessing over the scales. I'll put tips and tricks here too, as well as what I eat and the exercise I do during the day. With any luck, I'll see results soon, and finally be happy looking in the mirror.

So here goes, the journey that should change the way I look at food, the way I exercise and hopefully, the way I look at myself. Welcome to my very own... Crusade to My Dreams!!
